Shooting at Berry Ridge Apartments

Crime Stoppers Featured Case #18-35
 
The Gresham Police Department, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to solve a shooting investigation.

On September 9, 2018, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Gresham Police officers responded to the report of a shooting at the Berry Ridge Apartments, located at 2711 West Powell Boulevard. Officers arrived and found the victim, 27-year-old James Spisla, suffering a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

An investigation revealed that Spisla had been in an altercation in the parking lot moments prior but returned to his apartment. While standing on the patio, an unknown suspect approached and shot Spisla. The suspect then fled in a white Nissan Titan 4-door with dark tinted windows, black wheels, and an unknown Washington license plate.

The suspect is described as a Black or Pacific Islander adult male with a medium complexion. He is 5-feet-8-inches to 6-feet tall, 200-225 pounds and has broad shoulders.

Assault Investigation
September 01, 2018

Crime Stoppers Featured Case #18-39
 
The Portland Police Bureau, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to identify the person involved in an assault in September 2018.

On September 1, 2018, between the hours of 2:15 and 2:40 a.m., an unknown male assaulted a 41-year-old man in the area of Northeast Davis Street and Sandy Boulevard, leaving the victim with serious injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male named "Jeremy," late-20s, 5'10" tall, 180 pounds, with light brown, shorter hair. "Jeremy" claimed to be a "two-tour combat veteran" and works as a Quality Assurance Manager at a local manufacturing facility.

The suspect, previously unknown to the victim, joined the victim and a friend earlier in the evening at a Southeast Portland bar. After leaving a second bar, the victim was approached by the suspect on the street, where the assault occurred.

A forensic sketch of the suspect is being released to aid in this investigation.

Fatal Hit and Run of Njugana Githere
August 25, 2018

Crime Stoppers Featured Case #18-31
 
The Portland Police Bureau, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to solve a hit and run crash that killed a Northeast Portland man.

On August 25, 2018, at approximately 10:33 p.m., 58-year-old Njugana Githere (pronounced Nuh-goonah GET-Therey) of Northeast Portland was walking across Northeast Sandy Boulevard near 20th Avenue when he was struck by a driver in a silver SUV driving eastbound on Sandy Boulevard. The driver sped away from the scene and has not been identified.

The victim suffered traumatic injuries and survived for a few days but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

The suspect vehicle is described as a 2005 to 2008 Honda Pilot, silver in color, with possible damage to the passenger-side exterior mirror, and passenger-side headlamp and turn signal assembly.

Surveillance cameras in the area captured an image of the suspect vehicle, which is being released publicly to aid in this investigation.

Robbery of Rounders Bar
August 18, 2018

The Gresham Police Department, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to solve an armed robbery.

On August 18, 2018, around 7:05 a.m., a man armed with a handgun entered Rounders Bar at 1509 Northeast 181 Avenue and demanded money. The suspect fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man is described as 6-feet-2 inches to 6-feet-5-inches tall, 250-280 pounds, wearing a black hoodie and a mask.

Arson at McCollum Auto Body

Crime Stoppers Featured Case #18-42
 
The Portland Police Bureau and Portland Fire & Rescue, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, are asking for the public's help to identify the person or person involved in a reckless fire that caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage.

On July 3, 2018, at approximately 7:00 p.m., an unknown person ignited a firework near a door to McCollum Auto Body, located at 7410 Southeast Foster Road. The firework caught a wooden door on fire, leading to major damage to the building and vehicles stored inside. The total loss from the fire exceeds $300,000.

There is no suspect information; however images of the fire damage are being released.

Homicide of Kenneth Coleman
June 29, 2018

Crime Stoppers Featured Case #19-09
 

The Portland Police Bureau, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to solve the 2018 homicide of Kenneth Coleman.

On Friday, June 29, 2018, at 10:46 a.m., Portland Police East Precinct officers responded to the Goodwill Store, located at 12250 Northeast Halsey Street, on the report that an unconscious and not breathing person was found behind the store.

Officers arrived at the scene and located a deceased adult male in a wooded area behind the Goodwill Store, off the cul-de-sac on Northeast Wasco Street.

The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased, 44-year-old Kenneth Lamont Coleman, and determined that he died of homicidal violence.

No arrests have been made and there is no suspect information in this case.

Homicide of Barak Rosen
June 17, 2018

Crime Stoppers Featured Case #18-24
 
The Portland Police Bureau, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to solve the homicide of 30-year-old Barak Rosen.

On Sunday June 17, 2018, at 4:42 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to the old Marshall High School site, located at 3905 Southeast 91st Avenue, on the report of a deceased man on the track with an apparent gunshot wound.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and determined that the man was in-fact deceased. The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office conducted an autopsy and determined Rosen died of homicidal violence as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

There is no suspect information and no known reason why Rosen would become a victim of violence.

Homicide of Eugene Gora
May 10, 2018

Crime Stoppers Featured Case #18-26
 
The Portland Police Bureau, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to solve the homicide of Eugene Gora.

On May 10, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., Portland Police Bureau North Precinct officers responded to the report that a deceased male had been located by a friend in the deceased person's residence, located in the 4200 block of Northeast Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard.

Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene and confirmed that the subject, 85-year-old Eugene Gora, was deceased. The Oregon State Medical Examiner later determined that Gora died from homicidal violence.

Homicide detectives do not have any suspects in this investigation.

Commercial Arson

Crime Stoppers Featured Case #19-01
 
The Portland Police Bureau and Portland Fire & Rescue, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to identify the suspect involved in setting a commercial fires.

On April 2, 2018, at approximately 3:35 a.m., Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the report of a structure fire at 6210 Northeast Columbia Boulevard. The building formerly housed an adult entertainment establishment.

Arson investigators believe that the fire may be related to a previous arson at the same location and have identified a person-of-interest.

Surveillance images of the person-of-interest were obtained from a nearby convenience store. The person is described as white male, wearing dark-colored clothing and a bright safety green jacket. He is believed to frequent the area and rides a bicycle.

Fatal Hit and Run in Gresham

Crime Stoppers Featured Case #18-10
 
The Gresham Police Department, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to identify the suspect involved in a fatal hit and run.

On Sunday January 28, 2018, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and died from his injuries several hours later at the hospital. The suspect vehicle was being driven westbound in the 1500 block of Northeast Burnside Road in Gresham when the incident occurred.

Surveillance video in the area shows the suspect vehicle being a silver or champagne colored import car (possibly a Kia, Honda or Hyundai) with damage to the front driver's side corner area. There is a noticeable dent behind the driver's side headlight and the driver's side mirror looks to be broken. Hubcaps on the driver's side of the car might be missing. The driver was described as a white male and the vehicle was last seen turning eastbound onto Northeast Division from Burnside.
